When I lived in the Saudi Arabia we travelled many times for family vacations to Dubai. It was a short plane ride and a great weekend get away. A visit to the Souk was high on my list of things to do. “Souk” or “Souq” is the Arabic word for market where any kind of goods are bought or exchanged. The spice Souk is one of the most popular souk’s in Dubai. It’s narrow passages are lined with small stores selling every herb and spice under the sun. Swinging 60’s
Anyone coming of age in the 60’s and 70’s will be very familiar with this scent. It takes me back to my teenage years in Dublin. Strolling down the main shopping haunt, Grafton street, this fragrance drifted from many storefront’s. It lingered on everyone’s clothes and was the incense of choice at every party.
